Niki finished fourth in the fourth series of The X Factor winning critical acclaim for her seven octave vocal range and striking stage presence. Her renditions of classic power ballads brought her standing ovations from the audiences and acclaim from the four celebrity judges. Singing star joins Chesterfield Panto Cast
Posted: 05 Jun 2017 - by PHA
Fresh from this year’s BBC smash hit singing competition Let it Shine, Chesterfield Theatres has announced that singing star Anthony Sahota, is set to tread the boards as Peter Pan from Saturday 2 December, joining previously announced EastEnders’ star Sam Attwater and Liberty X’s lead vocalist Kelli Young in the swashbuckling family favourite pantomime.
Following a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Kingston University, Anthony starred in the BBC’s exciting new talent competition Let it Shine which aimed to find young performers to star in in The Band, a new stage musical featuring the songs of Take That. The fresh new talent format was presented by Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc, with Gary Barlow, Dannii Minogue and Martin Kemp serving as celebrity judges throughout the series.
A passionate singer and performer, Anthony had record deal offers prior to the show but decided to finish his degree before pursuing his singing dreams! He has his mum Caroline to thank for his starring role in the primetime show. She nominated him having seen ads online for the show, leading to an unforgettable moment for Anthony when Gary Barlow surprised him by turning up at his graduation to tell him he had been selected for the show!
Recalling the day Anthony said: "I was absolutely speechless. To be selected from hundreds of applicants for an opportunity like this and for it to be announced in front of all of my family by Gary Barlow was just the greatest feeling."
Throughout the show Anthony received praise for his unique vocal style and beautiful renditions of current chart hits. A highlight was performing with his childhood favourite pop group Busted on national TV. He went on to reach the quarter final stage in the contest.
Pantomime Producer Paul Holman said, “Anthony is a talented young musician and performer with the right fun, energy and talent to play the adventurous and slightly cheeky chappy character Peter Pan. He completes a trio of sensationally talented singers in joining soap and stage star Sam Attwater and Liberty X’s lead vocalist Kelli Young in this classic family pantomime. With unbelievable singing talents, great comedy and spectacular costumes and scenery lined up this year’s pantomime truly does have something for everyone.”
The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan runs at The Pomegranate Theatre from 2 December 2017 to 2 January 2018. Tickets are available from the theatre box office (01246 345 222) and online (www.chesterfieldtheatres.co.uk).
Swashbuckle Pirate Duo Joseph Elliott and Richard David-Caine Join Worthing Pantomime Cast
Posted: 02 Jun 2017 - by Christopher Hall
Two of TV’s favourite pirates are set to bring a touch of swashbuckling adventure to Worthing Theatres’ family pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs this Christmas. Instantly recognisable as the hopeless and lovable double-act Cook and Line, from the BAFTA nominated CBeebies Swashbuckle, Joseph Elliott and Richard David-Caine will be charged with picking up the comedy batons of the adorable Muddles and the Wicked Queen’s bumbling henchman Herman.
The comedy partners and writing duo have worked together for the last seven years, specialising in big, slapstick comedy and over the top characters. As Cook and Line they have also appeared together in the hugely successful CBeebies’ Christmas Carol, as well as live shows and guest appearances up and down the country.
Joseph and Richard have also been performing together for over six years as part of acclaimed comedy group, Four Screws Loose; in which they’ve written and starred in four smash-hit Edinburgh shows, had sell-out runs at the Leicester Square and Soho Theatres and performed in a multitude of exciting venues from Norfolk to Adelaide. They will be joining the one and only pop singer Chesney Hawkes on stage who plays the Prince, with further casting to be announced in the forthcoming weeks.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs opens at the Pavilion Theatre Worthing on Friday 1 December 2017 and will run until Monday 1 January 2018. For more information and ticket enquires visit worthingtheatres.co.uk or call the Worthing Theatres box office on 01903 206206
The One and Only Chesney Hawkes to play Prince in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Posted: 26 May 2017 - by Christopher Hall
This Christmas, pop legend, the one and only Chesney Hawkes is set to charm audiences of all ages as he plays the handsome Prince in Worthing Theatres and PHA’s family pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from 1st December to 1st January.
The hitmaker was catapulted to fame in 1991, when aged 19 he played the lead in the film Buddy’s Song; a popular coming of age tale which featured a young Chesney juggling the teenage challenges of school and dating with the determination to become a world famous popstar.
Following the film, The One and Only was released from the soundtrack and became an instant hit at home and abroad, shooting to the top of the charts in the UK and making the top ten stateside. With five weeks spent at number one, the hit track became the twentieth most successful release of the 90s and has gone on to be the subject of numerous compilation albums, TV ads, TV theme music, film soundtracks and, now a student anthem, continues to top ‘Best pop song of the nineties’ polls.
Following the track’s release Chesney continued to enjoy success around the world, touring extensively and playing the festival circuit while also continuing to record fresh material, which led to chart recognition for seven more singles.
Away from the music world Chesney’s television appearances could form the basis of a slapstick comedy show but with added danger. Following his appearance on the Channel 4 show The Games he needed surgery on a hip injury. He put his dancing skills to the test on Let’s Dance for Comic Relief and, looking pain and humiliation squarely in the eye, he signed up for ITV’s Sing if You Can where, being asked to sing while a fire roared around him, he narrowly escaped being burnt to death. He then accepted an invitation to join the cast of ITV’s Dancing on Ice, until just before filming started he went on to the ice on his own, breaking an ankle and ruling himself out of the show.
Chesney’s accident prone history was hilariously summed up in John Bishop’s Panto, the ITV comedy drama in which Chesney played the role of a member of the cast forever doing damage to himself. He did though manage to redeem himself by surviving Celebrity Masterchef 2015 unscathed, going on to make the semi-finals on the popular cooking challenge show.
Pantomime producer Paul Holman said: “I am delighted to have secured such a top showman as Chesney to play our dashing prince. He has firmly established himself as a brilliant performer with top vocals, dancing and stage presence among his many credits. Worthing has some of the liveliest audiences every Christmas and Chesney is the perfect performer to get everyone going. It will be a stellar production.”
Further casting is set to be announced for the pantomime over the next few weeks.

Following the success of their previous two collaborations, Cinderella and The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan, Worthing Theatres today announced that Paul Holman Associates will be producing their 2017 pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Pavilion Theatre, from 1st December 2017 to 1st January 2018.
In 2015 Cinderella broke the record for highest pantomime sales at Worthing Theatres, with a production that recieved rave reviews and starred Strictly Come Dancing’s Camilla Dallerup, Dancing on Ice’s Matt Evers and boyband A1’s Mark Read.
The record was then smashed the following year as The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan became the highest selling and largest attended pantomime in the theatre’s history, having sold over 32,000 tickets in its 5 and a half week run. Among the cast was Richard McCourt, half of the Dick n’ Dom duo who were celebrating 20 years of performing together on television that year. X Factor finalists Amelia Lily and Lloyd Daniels adding strong vocals to the production, and comedian Patrick Monahan captured the audience’s attention as Captain Hook.
Last year Worthing Theatres and PHA held auditions and local children were able to apply for the parts of The Lost Boys, as well as the local Glendale Arts School providing dancers for the production. They also worked in collaberation with Northbrook College to produce a life sized Tinkerbell sculpture and costumes that were on display throughout the run in the Pavilion Cafe Bar, as well as annoucing Chestnut Tree House as their local charity partner, where they raised over £1000 across the run.
Producer Paul Holman says: “We are thrilled to be working with Worthing Theatres again to produce another show stopping family pantomime. Our brilliant reviews, audience feedback and growing box office success from year to year are testament to Worthing Theatres superb creative vision and ongoing commitment to high quality entertainment. Soap Heartthrob and Pop Singer in Panto at the Pomegranate
Posted: 14 May 2017 - by PHA
Soap star and Dancing on Ice champion Sam Attwater and the lead singer of multi-platinum selling group Liberty X, Kelli Young, are set to star in The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan at the Pomegranate Theatre Chesterfield this Christmas.
Bringing a touch of swagger and cutting a dashing figure is actor and champion ice skater Sam Attwater in the role of the ultimate panto baddie, Captain Hook!
He has been a regular fixture on our screens since his first foray into soap land in 2009. After completing his professional training at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts Sam landed his first TV gig playing Ricky in the popular Chester based soap Hollyoaks. Following a stint on the hit show, Sam became a regular on Eastenders, stepping onto the infamous Albert Square as the effortlessly cool East End bad boy and ladies’ man Leon Small. A student, who often bunked off school in favour of the boxing ring, Leon quickly earned a reputation as one of the square’s biggest womanizers, becoming involved in some of the soap’s biggest storylines in the process!
From the dramas of the East End to Dancing on Ice, Sam took part in the sixth series of the smash-hit skating show. Over the ten week series Sam rung up top scores with the all-star judging panel and the viewing public alike, going on to spin, arabesque and butterfly jump his way into the final where he and his partner Brianne performed The Bolero in front of Jane Torvil and Christopher Dean and over nine million viewers at home! They were crowned the winners of the popular programme with this final passionate performance winning them the hearts –and votes! - of the public! Due to Sam's success on the show he was invited back for the final 'All Stars' series in 2014 where he was paired with professional dancer Vicky Ogden. Finishing in fourth place their professional partnership came to a close but a whirlwind romance followed with the dancing pair tying the knot later that same year.
Joining Sam in our swashbuckling tale is pop singer Kelli Young, who will be putting her powerhouse vocals to use as she joins an all-star cast production as the feisty, fun- loving Tiger Lily.
Originally from Derby, Kelli began treading the boards at a young age, appearing in Mother Goose, Jack & The Beanstalk and A Chorus Line all for Derby Playhouse. Like Sam, Kelli then went on to train at Italia Conti, aged just 16.
During her performance training Kelli continued her professional career appearing in the musical Poison at London’s Tricycle Theatre. She then moved on to TV and film appearing in Akka & Me for the National Film School as well as appearing as Aneela in the CBBC drama, Budz.
Aged 18, Kelli entered the TV talent show Popstars where she made it to the final 10 contestants, subsequently forming the pop group Liberty X. Co-writing their first top 5 hit “Thinking It Over”, she then went on to have a string of top 10 hits with the group, including the smash hit no.1 single, “Just A Little”. Liberty X enjoyed chart success in many countries across the globe, had a sell-out UK tour and won awards including a Smash Hits Award, a BRIT Award and an Ivor Novello Award.
Away from the group Kelli presented for MTV, VH1, ITV and the BBC, interviewing Britney Spears amongst many other stars on the popular SM:TV. She also made numerous solo TV appearances on shows including Celebrity Mastermind, The Weakest Link, Total Wipeout and Pointless.
In 2013, after taking a career break to have a family, Kelli re-joined Liberty X for ITV hit show The Big Reunion, enjoying two sell out UK tours as part of the line-up.
Pantomime Producer Paul Holman said: “With their combined acting, dancing and singing talents Sam and Kelli really are the perfect triple threat! Their showbiz experiences in television, in sell-out concerts and treading the boards give them the perfect flair to star in the swashbuckling favourite pantomime Peter Pan.”
The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan opens on Saturday 2nd December 2017 and plays till Tuesday 2nd January 2018. Tickets are available now from the box office (01246 345222) and online (www.chesterfieldtheatres.co.uk).

The Marina Theatre Lowestoft has announced that The Right Honourable Ann Widdecombe will star as the regal and authoritative Empress of China in this year’s spectacular family pantomime, Aladdin, which runs from Wednesday 13 December 2017 to Monday 1 January 2018.
Outspoken and controversial, Ann is one of the most high-profile politicians of recent times. MP for Maidstone between 1987 and 1997 and for Maidstone and the Weald between 1997 and 2010 she is more recently known for her explosive appearance on the BBC Saturday night favourite, Strictly Come Dancing. At the age of 63, she became the oldest contestant ever on the smash hit dance contest. Despite never being a favourite with the judges, Ann continually defied the odds with her dance partner Anton Du Beke, surviving 10 weeks into the competition. Her comedy-inflected routines showed a self-deprecating sense of humour and won her legions of fans.
Strictly has been just one of many forays on television. In 2002, she took part in Celebrity Fit Club, becoming a judge in later series. In 2005, she fronted her own series, Ann Widdecombe to the Rescue, and has since made documentaries on a wide range of subjects, including prostitution, ‘hoodies’, benefits culture, the Bible and more. In 2017 she lived on a farm in Sugar Free Farm (ITV) and experienced life as a Victorian in 24 Hours in the Past (BBC Two).
As a presenter, Ann has twice sat in the chairman’s seat on Have I Got News for You and asked very tricky questions on Cleverdicks (Sky Atlantic).

Strictly Come Dancing Star Takes to the Stage
Posted: 26 Apr 2017 - by Christopher Hall
The Bridlington Spa is delighted to announce star of the stage, professional dancer and Strictly favourite Robin Windsor will headline this year’s pantomime performing the role of Genie in their 2017 pantomime, Aladdin.
Showman Robin took his first steps on to the dance floor at the age of 3 when his parents enrolled him in a local dance school in Ipswich. From the very beginning, he studied both Ballroom and Latin dance, eventually competing at international level representing England where he amassed numerous World Championships titles.
Robin first stepped into the limelight in 2010, making his Strictly debut with celebrity partner Patsy Kensit where over 9 weeks the duo danced their way into the nation’s living rooms winning praise and applause from the judges and viewing public alike. Following the hit season, 2011 became a standout Strictly year for Robin, where he matched his first year success, lasting again till week 9 in the competition with EastEnders legend Anita Dobson and going on to win the Strictly Children in Need Special with presenter Susannah Reid.
With the coveted gliterball trophy firmly in his grasp, Robin was to have his most successful Strictly season yet with actress Lisa Riley. The duo became the standout stars of the series and the people’s favourites with many memorable moments and energetic performances including Lisa whisking Robin into her arms and up into the air, a routine which took the pair to the top of the judges’ scoreboard. The couple’s brilliant technicality and on stage charisma earned them a well-deserved place in the semi-finals. On a high from a sensational season with Lisa, Robin returned to the Strictly stage the following year with celeb entrepreneur Deborah Meaden. The pair proved popular with the judges achieving consistently high scores and ultimately lasting for a very respectable five weeks in the smash hit contest.
Away from our TV screens, from 2003-2010, Robin was part of the cast of Burn the Floor, one of the leading ballroom based shows in the world. Two tours with Burn the Floor (2003, 2004) and three with FloorPlay (2006 to 2008) took him several times around the world, leading up to the highlights being a stint on Broadway and in the London West End. Robin has also starred alongside his Professional Partner and Strictly co-star Kristina Rhianoff across the globe. Together the pair toured their sell out hit show Putting on the Ritz across the UK and put their best foot forward on the global media circuit, including a memorable performance on the South African version of Strictly.
Robin Winsor said: “I am unbelievably excited to be playing Genie in Aladdin. He’s known for his magic, his flamboyant costumes and his larger than life personality so I can’t wait to get going and make my mark with this great character! With years of Strictly under my belt I’m used to OTT and revealing costumes and giving big energetic performances - I can’t wait to show Bridlington what I’ve got!”
